Ways To Donate
The American Red Cross is able to help those affected by disasters small and large because of the generosity of the American people. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on voluntary donations of time, money and blood to do its work.
The Orange County Chapter responds to approximately 150 incidents annually, providing shelter, food, comfort and financial assistance. One way to help us help Orange County 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year is through a financial donation.

Donate Your Car
To donate your used vehicle to the American Red Cross call toll-free (888) 5-RED-CROSS (888-573-3276) or email at your convenience donations@charitableautoresources.com to speak to an American Red Cross Vehicle Donation Representative. Our Representative will schedule a free pickup that's convenient for you, and will provide you with confirmation of your donation.
If the gross proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle are $500 or more and if you provide your social security number to our Representative at the time of your donation, you will also receive an IRS tax form 1098C stating the sale price of the vehicle. This amount is what you actually claim on the itemized tax return.

Donate your Used Cell Phone
American Red Cross of Orange County recently partnered with Full Circle Wireless, the leading recycler and reseller of previously owned wireless devices and accessories, to offer our supporters another way to give. Everyone has at least one old cell phone stored away in a "junk drawer." Turn that old phone into a valuable donation that can help save lives and make a real difference. You can bring your phone in to our office at 601 North Golden Circle in Santa Ana or email pplatis@oc-redcross.org with your name, address and number of phones you wish to donate for a free pre-paid shipping label.
Donate Goods
The Orange County Chapter is unable to accept small, individual donations or collections of items such as clothing, food or cleaning supplies. The cost to sort, package and distribute these types of donations to disaster victims is almost always greater than the cost of purchasing the items locally, and it is logistically impossible to distribute a wide variety of individual items in a equitable way. While we can not accept the donation of an individual item, you can support your community by donating these items to an organization that is equipped to put them to the best possible local use.
This fact sheet provides additional information regarding the ability of the Red Cross to accept in-kind donations and can help you make an informed decision about one of the ways you can support our humanitarian mission.
The Orange County Chapter is always looking for ways to stretch donor dollars. One way is through the in-kind donation of goods and services that are necessary to conduct our business of helping people.
Offers of in-kind donations are reviewed to determine if they meet a current need. Bulk donations are typically new, shrink-wrapped and palletized items, and transported by the donor.
We have an ongoing need for the following new items:
• Bottled Water
• Office Supplies
• Snacks
• Printing
• Sweat Shirts / Sweat Pants

"Rachel's Stuffed Animals 4 Kids" Program
Inspired by the deadly 2004 Southern California wildfires, an 11 year old girl, Rachel Lenson, searched for a way to ensure that any child who suddenly lost their home in a disaster would have a stuffed animal to cuddle with at night. All monetary donations designated as "Rachel’s Stuffed Animals" are used to purchase new plush friends for children. Donations of new stuffed animals can also be made at the Orange County Chapter located at 601 North Golden Circle Drive, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
